Cindy Trigg Has Been Taking SS "Disability" Benefits Since at Least 2005

Here’s how you can verify what I am saying here - all from the public records. Go to the NVSOS website, click on “Election Center”, under “Voter Information” click on “Contribution and Expense Report Search”. in “Search By” select “Candidate Name”, and put “Trigg” in the last space, click on Search, then select “Cynthia M. Trigg” and her reports come up.

The 2006 NVSOS report dated 12/19/05 shows Trigg’s income as “Social Security Disability” so we’ll go with 2005 as her first full year of taking SS Disability Payments. However, her 2004 NVSOS report shows her income of $85,000 as coming from Rental Income with no mention of SS Disability or American Airlines so who knows what she was doing then for a legitimate job.

With this information, I emailed Trigg three days ago to certify if she was, indeed, taking Social Security Disability benefits. After some time and some heehawing around, she replied:
“....thank you for bringing this to my attention, it should be that it is other household income. I will correct this with the Secretary of State.”
Right there she seems to be saying that she is not receiving Disability payments and will correct it.

I replied back to her

“Do as you wish, Cindy, but an "amended" document will only show up as an "Amended"; the original and the question of "SSID" will still be there forever.”

So, being finally cornered, then she changes her story to this:
I am currently receiving SSID and I am not now or have I ever committed fraud. I was awarded full disability benefits for life when I was medically FORCED out of my 27 year job as a flight attendant. I will not be eligible for retirement benefits until my 55 birthday when SSID will be reduced. Regardless of being awarded benefits for life I chose to take a job with the DNC because of my belief that I could help make a difference and I was fortunate that we could construct a job that allowed me to work from home when necessary and other adjustments. I REPORTED to the SSID that I was working, they stopped the benefits which was appropriate and when the job was ended because of funding by the DNC I was automatically put back on SSID. Very few people chose to go back to work after a judgement declaring them disabled for life however at the very least I have tried and continue to try.

So very clearly, Trigg is saying; 1) She is definitely getting SS Disability Benefits because she was awarded full disability benefits for life; 2) That while she is running for Congress, she is still taking SS Disability Benefits, a salary from the Douglas County School Board, and income from her rental properties once stated as $85,000, but 3) While working for the DNC last year she herself stopped the Disability Benefits.

#3 is something I have serious problems with since there is something called the “Trial Work Period Program whereby Social Security lets you keep you Disability payments while working. So we’ll probably never know the whole story if she was or wasn’t taking Disability money while working for the DNC and Jill Derby. And the part about the DNC job “that allowed me to work from home” is pure hogwash. The DNC job was about traveling to every Democratic enclave in Nevada in a very short period of time conducting “pizza parties” to get people to go to Harry Reid’s caucus. The night she came to Minden she started out (as I remember it) in Tonapah, came here, and finished up somewhere else. Oh yeah - Trigg was also running for office here in 2008 despite her disability and other committments to the DNC and her rental properties...

To recap here, Trigg was “medically FORCED” on Disability payments in 2005 because she was “awarded full disability benefits for life” - presuming here she was unable to do almost anything in the way of gainful employment. Then when the job for the DNC came along (courtesy of Jill Derby) she managed to magicly turn off her “full disability” and undertake a physically and mentally arduous job.

Then when that job was over, she could magicly turn her disability back “on” and go back managing their rental properties, being President of the School Board, and run for Congress all the while drawing Social Security Benefits that we taxpayers pay for.

I will let the readers be the jurors here on the matter of fraud.

One other little tidbit about Trigg which readers should know about. I think most of us would consider going on Social Security Disability a very real financial hardship. Yet, if you look in the FEC public records, Cynthia Trigg was able to contribute $4,300 to varying Democratic causes in 2006 and $2,518 in 2007. Some hardship....

There’s more - lots more to reveal about this Congressional candidate. I’m just hoping - as I have strongly suggested to her - she has the good sense to resign from the Douglas County School board and stop this farce of a campaign while she can still salvage something - anything of her face and reputation.

Right now I'm going to send this to Trigg and invite her to comment. Then I'm getting in the shower for along time.....

I'm glad Ms. Trigg is attempting a response, but I still have several unanswered questions:

1) What is her claimed disability? I don't mean to be too nosy, but it seems to me that if it's bad enough to be entitled to money from the government, it might just be bad enough to effect her job performance in Congress, not to mention the school board. If your understanding of disability law is correct, her affliction must be more than just an inability to perform duties specific to being a flight attendant(i.e. no standing, etc), as she would presumably still be able to do a desk job. I'd love her to publish her disability determination. She's obviously not too shy about talking about her health.

I'm glad she's still able to shovel snow.

2) How did you reach the conclusion she changed her story, as it's not clear to me from the quotes you provided. Maybe you could publish the whole exchange between the two of you. (I'm also interested in the "heehawing")

3) What exactly was the error/ommission in her finacial disclosure which she feels requires amendment?

I'm still not ready to conclude that fraud is involved, but I have a hard time reconciling the apparent inconsistencies (ie if she's really disabled, what makes her think she can do all these important jobs properly, and if she's not, why should she be getting money for nothing).

Finally, I'd like to see her put her money toward paying her husband's overdue property taxes before spending it on frivolous things like DNC contributions. She might also want to consider paying one of her many creditors.

I'll be waiting to see what else you have to reveal.

Aw hell, my inability to post links should qualify me for disability. Just put "Cindy Olivas Trigg" into google and click on the 9th result from the RGJ.

Rudolph, let me go through this link thing again for you.
1. Go here and under "An HTML Link" copy that stuff between the two < > by sweeping your cursor over it.
2. Paste that where you wish the link to appear in your comment.
3. Erase just the letters url - not the " " containing it.
4. Now...that stuff you have from the RGJ beginning with [ http://www.rgj.com/article/20090330/HEALTH/903300341/1092 ] would go where url used to be; put it between the " " .
5. Then where the words Link text are - erase those.
6. that's where you use your own words to describe the link you just set up. E.g., in the 1st instruction (above) - I replaced "Link text" with "here" which is why it shows up in blue as a link.
Voila! It takes some practice and patience but it's worth it.

Let me get some java and I'll be back. Btw, there's news from Yolo County you might be interested in.

OK - Rudolph, let me begin by again noting that Ms. Trigg can be contacted as published her most recent public record and I have invited her to comment here on her "disability". I encourage you and others to let her answer your questions directly.

Like you, I remain unsatisfied with her explanations so I contacted my Congressman about the matter and received the name and phone number of the "Resident Agent in Charge" of the regional Social Security branch in San Francisco who will be briefed about the matter as I know it. Considering that, I think it best not to discuss the matter of her "disability" any further here.

The latest item which has raised my level of attention regarding Ms. Trigg et. al is that she is on a crusade "to avoid kids being on drugs" vis-a-vis year round drug testing of only Douglas County's athletes. Just why our President of the School Board et. al (including the Superintendent, the Asst. Superintendent, and the Board Attorney) wants to discriminate against our athletes by testing only them and letting others go free of such intimidation is far beyond my scope of reason.

It also brings up all sorts of questions about students' rights under the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments as well as school officials witholding evidence from County, State, and Federal authorities about the illegal use of drugs and alcohol. I believe that's called "aiding and abetting" which in itself is a crime larger than drug use. I'm hoping some parent sues their butts off over this issue if it becomes policy, ends up owning the school district, and turns the Administration Building into a barn for educating jackasses.

Again, I refer you directly to Ms. Trigg on your questions.

One other thing. Our outstanding baseball team fell just one game short of reaching the state championship.

For their efforts, our School Board is going to reward them with year-round drug testing - not just while they play for the Tigers. And we wonder what's wrong with our kids today....

I previosly made excuses for Ms. Trigg that the foreclosure of her husband's properties shouldn't be held against her. I note from the R-C today, however, that another property, this time which is titled in her name, is going into foreclosure.
